Eritrea: 967 Students Graduate from three colleges

Hamelmalo College Of Agriculture Graduates 381 Students

Hamelmalo, 25 July 2010 – A total of 381 students graduated from Hamelmalo College of Agriculture yesterday in degree and diploma levels. 

Speaking at the graduation ceremony in which Ministers, Regional Administrators, religious leaders, and other invited guests took part, the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Arefaine Berhe, congratulated the graduates and their parents and stressed on the need for the now skilled human resources to play their due role in implementing the outlined plan towards achieving food security. 

Noting that countries that have gained food security have achieved it through promoting education and research, the Minister said that the Government's substantial investment to upgrade skilled manpower attests to its commitment to achieving food security. He also called on the graduates to redouble efforts so as to produce satisfactory supply to the local market as well as for export purposes. 

The Dean of the College of Agriculture, Mr. Semere Amlesom said that the college has graduated about 93 students in degree in five agricultural fields and the remaining 288 students at diploma level. He also added that 22% of the graduates are female. 

Pointing out that the College is now in good position as a result of the undertaken efforts, Mr. Semere reminded the graduates to diligently serve their country and people. 

The representative of the students on his part reiterated the graduates’ readiness to live up to the nation’s expectations. 

Hamelmalo College of Agriculture has so far graduated about 1,143 students in degree and diploma levels in three batches.


 

500 graduate from Asmara Teachers Training Institute

Asmara, 24 July 2010 – A total of  532 students, out of whom 149 are females graduated today from the Asmara Teachers Training Institute in certificate. 

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the director of the Institute, Mr. Alem Gebrekal, outlined the achievements registered in developing the education sector since independence. He further noted that there exists sufficient textbooks and other educational facilities in the Institute that play major in facilitating the teaching-learning process. 

Also speaking on the occasion, Mr. Petros Hailemariam, director general of research and human resource development in the Ministry of Education, indicated that the Government is doing its level best to promote equitable educational opportunities across the nation. 

The Asmara Teachers Training Institute is graduating students for the 16th time. 


Over 136 students graduate from Asmara College of Health Science

Asmara, 24 July 2010 – More than 130 students graduated from the Asmara College of Health Science today in M.A, degree anddiploma. The graduates include 8 in M.A., 124 in the First Degree and 4 in diploma. 

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Minister of Health, Ms. Amna Nurhusein, stated that the Government continues to exert unremitting efforts towards promoting the nation’s human resource potentials, and thereby ensure social justice and economic emancipation. She further called on the graduates to live up to the nation’s expectations. 

The Dean of the College, Dr. Azeb Ogbagebriel, on her part noted that the College has registered impressive outcome in nurturing competent health professionals since its opening in 2005. She indicated that endeavors are being exerted to foster relations with reputed educational institutions abroad so as to ensure the academic competence of the College. Dr. Azeb pointed out that at present 1,382 students are pursuing various courses in the college.
