VIDEO: Eritrea Operation Fenkil (Feb 1990) – Final Assault on Massawa with Speed Boats

The Battle of Massawa (Operation Fenkil) took place in February 1990 in and around the coastal city of Massawa, Eritrea. This offensive was also dubbed the Fenkil Offensive and was conducted by both land and sea by the Eritrean People’s Liberation Front (EPLF) against the Ethiopian Derg Army. During this battle EPLF used its small fleet of armed speedboats to sink or cripple most Ethiopian navy ships anchored in and around Massawa harbor.
