Despite the weyane sympathizer conducting the interview I came out well informed about The Publisher’s views of politics in the horn. Elias has opened my mind to accept a new breed of Ethiopian intellectuals with a progressive view. A realistic perspective with clear agendas on how to deal with weyane’s regime is of paramount concern to Ethiopians.
Another defining moment for Elias is when he reminds us of the helping hand that was stretched out to Eritreans in Ethiopia during the tumultuous times of Ethnic Cleansing perpetrated by weyane on Eritreans residing in Ethiopia back in 98/99. He nails it when he describes that Eritreans know weyane is enemy of the horn and that it is in their best interest to work for a united and prosperous Ethiopia. A peaceful Ethiopia means a peaceful neighborhood for us all. Consequently the fact that Eritreans reaching out to rid weyane off the horn is a genuine care for Ethiopian people which will define a a peaceful coexistence for the future of these sisterly nations. Our enemy is mutual, we as Ethiopians and Eritreans should come together to rid the horn’s cancer is a call I applaud him for…
Thanyou Elias for your insight and foresight.
Elias is a very intelligent guy. As an Eritrean i am always impressed with his views. He is not afraid to tackle hard and unpopular issues. If we had more Elias’s in Ethiopia I can’t see why our area wouldn’t be a paradise.
Thanks Elias for telling the teruth about how you & most Ethiopians feel about weyane. Keep up the good work.
Elias make me say that there is still someone who care for Ethiopia and brave enough to say they need Eritrea’s support to remove TPLF gangsters and save Ethiopia.
I was able to get a better understanding of Mr. Elias’ views regarding Eri-Ethio relations. One point he made that stuck to me is the reality of the dynamics of politics. It’s all about thinking outside the box, for the benefit of each parties involved.
To put it in very simpe terms: We have a common enemy and it only makes sense to work together towards a common goal -rid of the horn’s master terrorist, Woyane.
Thanks East Afro/asmarino5 for this and other insightful posts.
Elias is very honest. I have wached ETN and very impressed to all his answeres.Well done elias
ya that is a very true idea to make a change in east africa eritreans & ethiopians must work together for peace by by fighting the unreal truthless goverments.any citizen must work with truth and tring to help the poor peoples of both countries.
Elias is a very straight forward guy (Ethiopian). He believes in the co-existance of Eritrea and Ethiopian in peace. I like to read his ethiopianreview.com evey day. I read his editorials and comments left by Ethiopians and Eritreans. All most all comments are positive on Eritrea/Ethiopia relationship. Keep it up Elias.
This guy is very smart. He is not afraid to say what is in his mind. He is a new generation with a new idea. As an Eritrean i am proud of Mr. Elias.
It is equally impressive how Elias is reporting how Woyannes are being chased and dragged alive in the streets of Mogadishu.
Eliase just FYI, the guy that interviewed was a do-nothing armchair politician. And his got you style citing your past stands and so on is reflective of his grudge toward yor sucess abd jeolosy..so next time when you allow urself be exosed to those kind of people make sure u slap them left and right. Under the cover of journalism he was promoting the solom tekalegne type of politics. Beleive it or not this guy, had he had enough money he would fly the next day to make bussiness in the weyane run ethiopia….so ignore his fag ass and move on!!
Well – Elias u have done a good job and hope u will continue the same way. As an Eritrean – I wish Ethiopians become engaged in their country affair much like Eritrean that way they will not be manipulated by the rulers.
I also wish Ethiopian read and understand the reason behind Eritrean independence movement and why Eritreans prefer to be known as Eritrean than Ethiopian. As far as I know – Eritrean don’t hate Ethiopia at all – even though – at some given moment – Eritrean movement used anti Ethiopian slogan to achieve their goal – we should not be surprised that all political movement and organizations use such method to mobilize their follower. Please read the following articles regarding TPLF http://www.biddho.com/content/view/1141/29/lang,english/ and why the war in 1998 was important to the Weyane than to Ethiopians.
Eritrean knew that the honey moon between the Eritrean government and the Weyane would end up at any given time – the only problem was that we did not expect it to happen so fast. We all knew that the “Weyane” aspiration was to create a greater Tigray with its own port and to achieve this they need to start a fight with Eritrea.
In fact between 1998-2000 there were 3 major wars and the first two wars were conducted more or less by the “Weyane” army and once they knew that they were not able to achieve their goal – they brought Ethiopians to the theater claiming that they have to defend their dear motherland. As usual – people did not question the motive and Ethiopians thought Weyane would at least deliver Port Assab to them.
If that was achieved – the final beneficiary was the “Weyane” movement who has dreamed to create a nation. If one looks to Tigrian websites, it is full of Ras Alula, Yohannes, and Axumit Kingdom and so on. For me – I knew way in 1991 when a Tirgrian I knew told me that one day – the Tigrian will have independence with its own port. His justification was that since the Axumite kingdom used Port of Adduils 2000 years ago – the coast belongs to Tigray. Well – these are the same people that rule Ethiopia for the benefit of Tigray.
Ethiopians – please wake up and smell the dam coffee. You are stuck with blood suckers who will do everything to achieve their stupid dream.
Good luck my Ethiopian friends – your enemy is your own foreign government not Eritrea. We cannot wait to have normalization with Ethiopian and live in peace forever. Thank you!!
Thank you Ato Elias for your magnificent analysis regarding the current Woyane politics and its surrounding.
You are the only person upto now who has exposed the inside view of Tplf/Woyane.
I hope your view may strike the illusioned ones that have predjudice against Eritrea for nothing. Many a would change their mind towards Eritre.
The people of Ethiopia may not need a border line that divide them accoding to colonial times.
There must be a government change in Ethiopia that will serve the interests of both nations. As Ato Elias has disclosed the help of Eritrea is crucial to downfall the mercenary Woyane regime.
Well it good to see a new breed of Ethiopians like MR ELIAS KIFLIE, ready to accept the reality on the ground that the ruthless regime in Ethiopia will not b removed with out Eritrean help from power. even though i disagree with Elias that SHAEBIA did work to disintegrate Ethiopia along side woyanie when they both seized power in Asmara and Adiss respectively. to MR Elias’s record it was shaebia who forced woyanie to abandon its secessionist agenda way before they both grab power. i have seen many Ethiopian friends being surprised when our dear president made an interview that he never want to see Ethiopia being segmented. they lauded ISSAIS is changed. but that is not true if they know SHAEBIA better, shaebia never works to disintegrate Ethiopa . shhaebia was always far sighted to figure out that unstable Ethiopia would permanently cause instability to the region . well if Ethiopians are coming to their sense then and stop dreaming about the red sea, me as an Eritrean would glad to see the mighty SHABIA giving hand to Ethiopian brothers and sisters to get rid off the ruthless, racist, and AMRICAN puppet regime of woyanie. but this time round shabia should be cautious.
Thank you Elias
The reception you had from ETN was not favourable at all, however you have managed to expose the Ethno-fascist of Abay Tigray who are robbing ethiopians and ethiopia in a day light. Due to the action of you and your likes, the days of these ethno-fascist are numbered.
Well done
cheers
After all the suffering Eritrea endured from successive Ethiopian governments, and the latest betrayal by the fascist Weyane, I, sometimes, think of erecting a barbed-electric-wire all along the border between Eritrea and Ethiopia. This way no Ethiopian would cross the border, alive.
And then, when you meet people like Elias, you think again and say “hey, may be, we don’t need a barbed-electric-wire. A simple wall would just be fine, so people like Elias can jump the wall and visit Eritrea with out electrocuting themselves.”
This is the first time that an Ethiopian intellectual has put his reputation on the line for speaking out against the often misguided diaspora line of political reasoning. Since its inception in the earll 70’s, the EPLF progressive political programmes were similar to what our brother Elias is advocating now.The Lion of Nakfa has given interviews about this topic with clarity and depth several times. This course of action would send the Agaazi Tribal Coucil into the nut house at Ammanuel Hospital in Addis. The coward Melles is already weting his pants as usuall.
Ethiopia needs more intelligent people like this Elias of Ethiopian review. Ethiopia would definitely be one of Africa’s most properous countries if it was governed by intelligent people.
ethiopian what are you waiting for
ethiopian what are you waiting for
ethiopian what are you waiting for
