BBC 8 May 2008 Eritrea has denied that it has any problems with Djibouti, which accuses it of amassing troops on their border. Earlier this week, Djibouti appealed to the UN Security Council to intervene in order to prevent a conflict over the border village of Doumeira. In a letter to the UN, Djibouti alleged Eritrea had published new maps showing Doumeira as Eritrean territory. Grirma Asmerom, Eritrea’s ambassador to the European Union, told the BBC he knew nothing about the letter. Since Eritrea gained independence in 1993, the country has been involved in two serious conflicts over territory with its neighbours. ‘Real threat’ BBC Somali Service editor Yusuf Garaad Omar says Djibouti’s interpretation of events is alarming. He said Doumeira is a small border village of little strategic importance home to ethnic Afar people. “The sudden growth of troops calls for real intervention by the international community because we see it as a real threat,” Djibouti’s ambassador to the UN Roble Olhaye told the BBC’s Network Africa programme. “We wanted to urge the Security Council to take all necessary measures to prevent any kind of conflagration because the prospect of a real war is there.” But Mr Asmerom said he was bemused by such accusations. “There is no such problem with Djibouti; we have never had a problem with Djibouti,” he said. In 1995, Eritrea clashed with Yemen over the Hanish islands in the Red Sea – one of the world’s major shipping lanes. Three years later, Ethiopia and Eritrea fought a two-year war over the border town of Badme, in which tens of thousands of people died. Djibouti and Eritrea clashed twice over their mutual border in the 1990s and nearly went to war. Both US and France have military bases in Djibouti. |

Of course what can one expect from a country that hosts both USA and France military bases on it’s tiny soil and deports innocent Ethiopians back to misery filled Ethiopia at the request of the gangster Meles Zenawi. What can one expect from a dictatorial regime who allows USA planes to fly from its own soil and bombard innocent Somalis. This entire “border dispute” between Eritrea and Djibouti’s is yet another conspiracy unfolding in our region and USA and Meles’s fingerprints are all over it.
We are all aware of the servant ‘kedami’ nature of yet another regime in the horn. As if we don’t have enough in the neighborhood already! Well it seems the pretext is set; In 98′ it was the use of the obvious larger neighbor to crush ‘tiny’ Eritrea…since that miserably failed. It is now to time to try and get Eritrea to be the big provocative neighbor and Djibouti a tiny one, so that a military intervention by others against Eritrea is justified.
The only leader, in this region, standing up against foreign intrusion and for peace and stability of the horn is PIA. It’s, therefore, no surprise to see Bush recruiting yet another puppet to carry out his wicked plans – intimidate and try to weaken Eritrea by fueling conflicts with neighboring countries. We’re not surprised nor are we intimidated by these conspiracies. As it has been said before, Eritreans kneel down only on two occasions: when they pray and when they shoot. God bless!
Djibouti is just kissing Bush’s —, they better not mess with Eritrea. Weyane is doing to the Somalis exactly what derg used to do to our people at the end of their regime, by detaining, raping young children & killing innocent people in mosque & every where else…
This whole Djibouti situation is nothing but a farce and an attempt to deflect attention, our attention. From my understanding, Ethiopia has been forced to pull back more and more troops from our border in order to back up its fledgling forces in Somalia and the Ogaden. Militarily, they’ve lost their deterrent capabilities systematically, but even more so (as of late, mainly for the past 2 years), they’re starting to lose the propaganda war. This is an arena where they were ahead of us in massive points and had done a thorough job to sully the good name of the Halal Meriet, but not no more. This latest little Djibuti “scare-mongering” smells and feels desperate from the puppet masters. Reminds me of the “axis” that was created by Yemen, Sudan and Ethiopia to surround us and “destroy” us. 5 years on, Sudan has come to the fold and Weyane is trying desperately to appease Bashir by handing him parcels of Ethiopian land like it was X-mas. Somalia has proven itself with a thundering roar, which leaves the junoir puppets (Guelleh and the Yemeni’s) to try a little harder now. But like always, the Camel marches on, unconcerned. Long live the Proud and Independent State of Eritrea!

It seems the US goal is to distablize the horn of africa in order to justify to control the region and it will not work. This is the type of behaviour that causes for the US to lose the respect around the globe. Just ask any African..

I think this is saying good-bye to Eritrea from Bush.I hope it is his last terror activity in the white house. But as for Djoubuti it is better they calm down otherwise it is simply crashing with a rock.
