By Essayas Fessahaye (essayasf@yahoo.com)
Friday, 18th April 2008’s Stage Seven Contests
A stage where Jani Tewolde saw his consistency on rankings
rewarded with his first ever stage victory on the Tour. This made him
wear his first ever-blue jersey of the tour. It is also a stage where
Daniel Teclehaimanot’s climbing contest leadership was further
strengthened.
Riders are heading to Asmara from Massawa climbing all the
swelling mountains on the crucial race of the Saturday’s 19th April
contest - just on the eve of the closing ceremony. Here, EriTel and
Asbeco are expected to battle it out for leadership. Individually,
defending champion Merhawi Gebrhiwet has a task of maintaining his
strength for an overall back to back tour championship.
