Defense Council Evaluates Institutional Reform In Defense Sector | Jan 11, 2019



Addis Ababa, (FBC) – The Defense Council of Ethiopia met today to review the reform undertaken in the defense sector.



Chaired by Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed, who is the Commander in-Chief of the Ethiopian Defense Forces, the meeting discussed on the gains made from the implementation of the reform at all levels in the defense sector.



After evaluating the depth of the institutional reforms carried out in the defense sector, the meeting deliberated on the gaps seen in the implementation of the reforms and outlined directions that require prime attention in the future.



The meeting also reviewed activities being undertaken to ensure that all nations and nationalities of Ethiopia are represented in the composition of the national defense forces.



After a through deliberation on deployment of defense armies, the Council stressed the need to update the society that the deployment takes into consideration existential threat as well as current national and regional situations.



During the event, it was stated that wide-ranging activities were underway to equip the military with latest technologies as far as possible, and to build its capacity in maintenance, adaption/innovation of technology.
