From Tiffany Haddish, Nipsey Hussle and now Deno Driz, people of Eritrean descent are planting solid footsteps in the global entertainment industry.

Haddish has garnered many laughs on and off the stage. From starring in major films to offering advice tinged with humor, the comedian is making waves while proudly displaying her heritage.

Eritrean-American rapper and entrepreneur Ermias Asghedom better known as Nipsey Hussle, raps about his experiences about growing up in Crenshaw, Los Angeles. His recent trip to his homeland shows his commitment to embracing both sides of his roots.

Now, we have rapper Deno Driz. The young Eritrean-British singer is gaining ground in the music arena, even getting Idris Elba to shout him out on Twitter.

Deno Driz is a member of the group Aj x Deno who was born on September 23, 2002, in London. The 16-year-old started getting attention when his rendition of Geko’s “Over and Under” went viral.

His cover of Dj Snake’s “Let Me Love You” featuring Justin Bieber also went viral.

Since then, Deno has been featured on Ghanaian-British rapper Stormzy’s 2016 album and his work has been mentioned by Ed Sheeran.

Singing sensation Chris Brown bigged him up as well.

One thing is for sure, Deno’s star power does not seem to be slowing down one bit.
