Ezana Kahsay’s Three Goals Lead Commodores to a Big Win

McKEES ROCKS — Erie Commodores FC posted its fourth shutout of the National Premier Soccer League season Tuesday. But they didn’t need it, because Ezana Kahsay and the offense provided plenty of support in a 4-0 win against Fort Pitt Regiment at Thomas J. Birko Stadium.

Kahsay netted his first NPSL hat trick — his fourth, fifth and sixth goals of the season — and Thaylan Sanches Silva scored in his second straight game for the Commodores (4-0-2), moving the team into a tie for second with Rochester at 14 points in the Midwest Conference’s East Division. Erie has two games in hand on the Lancers, and four in hand on first-place Dayton (17 points).

Kahsay began his three-goal effort 15 minutes into the opening half, and Silva followed with his goal 10 minutes later. Kahsay scored twice early in the second half, while goalkeepers Jorge Prendes and Chris Ralph combined on the shutout. The Commodores have allowed only two goals in six games this season heading into Friday’s 7 p.m. matchup with Syracuse FC at Gannon University’s McConnell Family Stadium. “It’s nice to score a few goals and keep a clean sheet,” owner and head coach John Melody said.

Fort Pitt (1-5-0) has lost five straight games, and has scored only one goal this season.
